Frequently asked questions – Expert Canyons

➡️ How do I choose between the Salvadon, Pointe Percée and Écouges?

All three are expert-level canyons of comparable difficulty, but the experience is very different. The Salvadon (Samoëns) is the most aquatic and vertical, ideal for building confidence on long ropes. The Pointe Percée (Sallanches) is the most airy and panoramic, with a stunning view of Mont-Blanc — comfort with exposure is essential. The Écouges (Vercors) is the most powerful in terms of water flow and atmosphere, a national reference that demands solid water management skills. If it's your first expert canyon, the Salvadon is often the best entry point.

➡️ Can you do several expert canyons in the same season?

Yes, and it's actually recommended for progression. The three expert canyons develop different skills — verticality, water management, comfort with exposure — and complement each other well. Discuss this with the guide when booking your first canyon to plan the progression that suits you.

➡️ Do you need to have done a sporty canyon before tackling the expert routes?

Yes, without exception. Expert canyons are not simply a step up from sporty canyons — they are technically different environments, with long abseils, wall anchors and weather-dependent conditions. Having done Balme or Nyon is a minimum, but not enough. Regular canyoning practice and the ability to abseil independently are essential.

➡️ What is the price for the expert canyons?

All expert canyons are €120 per person, equipment included. Groups are deliberately limited to 4 to 6 people maximum to ensure safety and quality supervision on these demanding routes.
